Spooky Green Slime Smoothies
Time to channel your inner Frankenstein! In honor of Halloween next week, here is a slimy green smoothie recipe for all the little (and big) monsters out there. Swap out the punch at your spooky party and your guests will thank you when they don’t fall into a sugar coma upon leaving your house. Just keep it in the fridge (right in the blender pitcher) until you’re ready to serve. You could also pop a few icy eyeballs in as well.
My one tip for smoothie making -- be sure to add in enough water. To make six servings, I added in 32 ounces of water. The worst smoothie, in my humble opinion, is one you feel like you must chew.
Green Slime Smoothies
(serves six)
1 ripe avocado
3 leaves raw collard greens
2 cups frozen pineapple (you can just cut up the fresh one from this week’s box into chunks and pop in freezer)
¼ cup chia seeds
1 ripe green pear, cut and deseeded
2 granny smith apples, cut and deseeded
32 ounces of water (2 big glasses)
juice of 1 lemon
1 teaspoon of Stevia (or honey or agave nectar -- a little natural sweetener goes a long way)
Combine all ingredients in your blender. Blend well -- especially to make sure those chia seeds are ground up. BOO!
