Indian meets American is what this dish delivers. Complex flavors of Indian spices mingle to make a classic American comfort food even more comforting. It's just one of the great recipes from one of my favorite chefs, Andrew Caremellini.

Sometimes we eat this as is, or we put out a big bowl of lettuce leaves and make little bundles of chicken, noodles and satay sauce. Who doesn't love eating with their hands?

You'd never know by looking at the picture that this recipe is made with red lentils which usually turn bright orange when cooked, would you? It's the big dose of garam masala that makes it look like it's made with brown lentils.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here. We had a busy weekend of tree-trimming, garland hanging, home town Christmas parades, hospitality night and cookie baking. We love this festive time of year! This week we've got a delicious line up of produce and specials this week. We're really excited about our newest farmer relationship with Craig Rogers at Border Springs Farm.
Is there anything a bowl of this soup can't make at least a little better? Head cold creeping up on you? Beef Barley Soup. Heartbroken? Beef Barley Soup. Stretched in a million directions? Beef Barley Soup. It's earthy flavors are grounding and comforting and feel like sustenance for more then just your physical body.
With our Gift Giving that Gives back program not only are you giving a wonderful gift to someone you know, but you'll be giving a gift to someone you probably don't know but who will greatly appreciate it. This is a dish that I've been making for what seems like forever. I've used many different kinds of veggies (in Spring, I use leeks, asparagus and peas and substitute the sweet sausage for the hot sausage) and it is always delicious. It is perfect for a weeknight family meal or as the main course of a dinner party dish. If you can keep it warm, it's a potluck superstar.
