Easter Menu Plans

Easter Menu Plans

Suddenly it's the end of March and Easter is only about a week away. This year, at Washington's Green Grocer, we put together a couple of menus to make your holiday meal planning a piece of cake...or at least a pretty egg.

The first, is a Southern-inspired, casual Easter that's perfect to eat out on the picnic table or under the magnolia. We originally wanted to do an old school, pineapple and cherry covered glazed ham, but wouldn't you know, sourcing enough sustainably-raised, natural hams proved to be impossible this week. So instead, we put together some ham biscuits slathered in Christina Masser's Nectarine Fresh Rosemary jam and gave this Easter dinner a down-home feel. Homemade drop biscuits work well and so does the store bought mix kind, and just about any high quality sliced ham of your choice should do the trick. Pick up the jam in our Kitchen Cupboard section.

The second Easter dinner is our nouveau Greek menu. It's about as classically simple as you can get. Leg of lamb, roasted red peppers, spanakopita, lemony potatoes. You'll be screaming, OPA! and quoting Plato within the first two bites. The only thing you'll need to pick up at the market for this dinner is a pack of phyllo dough (Athens brand makes a good one that is trans-fat free).

Order particular items from either dinner to mix and match or we'll deliver the fixings and recipes for the whole shebang to your door. The individual recipes are in our blog roll if you want to check them out first. Either way, happy holiday menu planning!
